SSM Health Dean Medical Group, a 500+ physician multi-specialty group, is seeking a Board-Certified Sleep Medicine physician to develop our Sleep Medicine department at our Baraboo location. Additional details include:

  • Full-time position with clinical and sleep lab director (2-bed lab) in a busy established sleep program in Baraboo

  • Stipend for sleep lab directorship responsibilities

  • Outreach clinical services required in Fitchburg (Madison)

  • Adult patient panel with potential for pediatric patients, if interested

Hospital Overview

SSM Health - St. Clare Hospital, is a 100-bed facility with 24-hour, Level 3 trauma ER coverage which is contracted through Madison Emergency Physicians; there is 24/7 Hospitalist coverage; full lab and pathology services; average 300 deliveries/yr. The ICU consists of 6 beds and the hospital contracts with Hicuity Telemedicine. The hospital's primary service area includes the communities of Baraboo, Merrimac, Rock Springs, North Freedom, Lyndon Station, Lake Delton, and Wisconsin Dells, with a population of 38,363. In addition, there are 3.5 million tourists who vacation in our area annually.

Centrally located, Baraboo residents enjoy the best of both worlds--peaceful, small-town living with easy access to several major cities. Four-season recreational opportunities surround this peaceful city. During the summer residents enjoy fishing, hiking, boating, swimming and more at Devil’s Lake State Park. Also, for those outdoor enthusiasts, the Ice Age Trail and the Devil’s Lake both offer beautiful scenery. Once the leaves start turning red and gold, thoughts turn to curling, hockey, skiing, tubing, and snowmobiling. Skiers in Baraboo are lucky to have Devil’s Head Ski Resort just 10 miles from town in addition to Cascade Mountain in the nearby town of Portage.

Job Summary:

Diagnose and treat injuries or illnesses.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for obtaining call coverage by other medical staff members for holidays, vacations and other time off.

  • Responsible for the standard of practice for patient population.

  • Responsibility for maintaining a private office and all clinical decision making within the office during times of service.

  • Acts as an advisor and consultant in the establishment of operational policies of the practice to include: (1) Purchasing and capital allocations; (2) Managed care plan participation; (3) Budget and practice expenses; (4) Medicare/Medicaid participation; (5) Billing and collection of professional fees; (6) Personnel management and related policies; (7) Risk management and quality assurance; and (8) Coding compliance.

  • Responsible for after-hours call coverage for patients of the practice, in addition to office appointments.

  • Participates in community service activities, including speaking engagements, writing and special clinical programs as reasonably requested.

  • Responsible for all risk management, coding compliance and quality assurance activities and functions in and related to the practice.

  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Constant use of speech to share information through oral communication.

  • Constant standing and walking.

  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.

  • Frequent sitting, reaching and keyboard use/data entry.

  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.

  • Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors.

  • Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.

  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.

  • Occasional lifting/moving of patients.

  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.

  • Occasional driving.

  • Rare crawling and running.

REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL LICENSE AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
