SSM Health in Arnold, Missouri is seeking a skilled and compassionate Urgent Care Nurse Practitioner to join our dynamic team. As an Urgent Care Nurse Practitioner, you will play a crucial role in providing efficient and high-quality care to patients with acute illnesses and injuries in our urgent care setting. You will work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive care and ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:

Conduct thorough patient assessments, including medical history review, physical examinations, and diagnostic evaluations, to determine the appropriate course of treatment for urgent care patients.

Diagnose and treat common acute illnesses and injuries, such as upper respiratory infections, minor lacerations, sprains, and fractures.

Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as laboratory tests, x-rays, and electrocardiograms, as needed to assist in the diagnosis and management of patients.

Prescribe medications, including antibiotics, pain relievers, and other medications, according to established protocols and guidelines.

Provide patient education and counseling on health maintenance, injury prevention, and treatment plans, including medication instructions and follow-up care.

Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members to coordinate patient care and ensure seamless transitions between urgent care and other healthcare settings, as needed.

Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely in the electronic health record (EHR) system.

Adhere to established policies, procedures, and standards of care to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and ensure patient safety.

Qualifications:

Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited nurse practitioner program.

Current certification as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) in the state of Missouri.

Certification in Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP).

Minimum of 1-2 years of experience working as a Nurse Practitioner in an urgent care or emergency medicine setting.

Excellent clinical assessment and diagnostic skills, with the ability to make rapid and accurate decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare team members.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, with a commitment to providing patient-centered care.

Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems for documentation and communication.

Job Summary:

In collaboration with physician(s), demonstrates and provides professional nursing care to specialty patients requiring an advanced level of knowledge and management of their nursing care.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Initiates and provides medical interventions in response to acute changes in patient conditions.

  • Provides educational services to nursing and ancillary departments and serves as an educational consultant on clinical practice issues.

  • Applies evidence based practices to achieve multidisciplinary collaboration to facilitate continuity of care.

  • Contributes to the satisfaction of the medical staff by collaborating with physicians to deliver best care.

  • Recognizes and utilizes opportunities to act as a change agent by introducing nursing practice innovations.

  • Evaluates nursing practices associated with specialty area, defines needs/problems with patient care and makes constructive suggestions that creates a positive patient outcome.

  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

  • Completion of a formal post-basic education program from or formally affiliated with an accredited college, university or hospital (Before July 1, 1998) or a graduate degree from an accredited college or university (After July 1, 1998) with a concentration in the appropriate advanced practice nursing clinical specialty area.

  • Board certification by a national recognized certifying board in the appropriate population focus

  • Current or compact RN license in appropriate state

  • Appropriate APRN license or document of recognition in appropriate state

EXPERIENCE

  • One year experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Constant use of speech to share information through oral communication.

  • Constant standing and walking.

  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.

  • Frequent sitting, reaching and keyboard use/data entry.

  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.

  • Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors.

  • Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.

  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.

  • Occasional lifting/moving of patients.

  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.

  • Occasional driving.

  • Rare crawling and running.
